Department of Plant Production and Technologies

In today’s world, global climate change, population growth and the decline in agricultural land have made a reliable and sustainable food supply humanity’s most critical priority. The Department of Crop Production and Technologies at Konya University of Food and Agriculture was established with the aim of training qualified agricultural engineers capable of devising solutions to these global challenges through modern science and advanced technology.

Our Educational Philosophy and What Sets Us Apart Our department offers an innovative four-year, 100 per cent English-taught undergraduate curriculum that not only provides students with theoretical knowledge but also equips them with in-depth practical experience in modern agricultural laboratories and field sites. Our educational programme focuses on training visionary engineers who can analyse and interpret data obtained from scientific research and agricultural activities using information technology, artificial intelligence and data science, and who can develop models and generate solutions.

Graduates Ready for the Industry with the 7+1 Education Model One of our department’s greatest strengths is the 7+1 Education Model, which enables our students to take a strong step into the world of work even before they graduate. Under this system, after completing their theoretical and practical courses over the first seven semesters, our students work full-time for the entire eighth semester (the final semester) at leading companies in the agricultural sector, R&D centres or production facilities. Unlike traditional curricula, our programme does not require summer placements during the second and third-year summer terms; instead, all practical experience is consolidated under a single umbrella through this intensive and professional sector placement in the final term.

We Are Training the Agricultural Leaders of the Future Our department, which integrates the latest biotechnological methods, precision farming practices, soilless cultivation techniques and smart farming systems (IoT and sensor technologies) into its curriculum, also aims to develop students’ soft skills such as critical thinking, leadership and project management. Our graduates, who emerge as visionary and innovative leaders with a thorough understanding of global food security and international agricultural policies, are ready to shape the future of the agricultural sector.
