Interior Architecture Department

The Department of Interior Architecture, established at our university in 2019, aims to train interior architects who possess the knowledge and skills required by the modern world, are professionally competent, have well-developed analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and are constructive, inquisitive, enterprising and productive. Throughout their studies, interior design students are encouraged to recognise that the design process is not only an individual endeavour but also a collaborative one. The department’s primary objective is for graduates to enter the professional world as individuals who are environmentally conscious, aware of their cultural values and committed to preserving them, respectful of their profession, and passionate about design.

The department, which will operate under the umbrella of Konya Food and Agriculture University, will ensure integration across all faculties and departments through a food and agriculture-focused education system, in addition to general interior architecture education.

To achieve these objectives, the curriculum has been designed to deliver theoretical knowledge enriched by practical applications. Students who successfully complete the programme will:

  1. Develops two- and three-dimensional thinking skills.
  2. Creates functional, comfortable spaces that meet users’ needs whilst maintaining an aesthetic sensibility, and utilises scientific and technical data in their designs.
  3. Integrates elements of management and sustainability, and is able to design by addressing problems from socio-cultural, aesthetic, ergonomic and technological perspectives.
  4. They propose economical solutions that are physiologically and psychologically healthy, original, functional and environmentally compatible, whilst taking into account environmental infrastructure and requirements.
  5. They formulate and evaluate design problems and develop the ability to manage the design process.
  6. They develop effective presentation techniques by utilising technology in their designs.
  7. They receive training enabling them to plan smart cities, smart villages and smart production facilities (farms, factories, food processing, cyber-physical systems, factory architecture, etc.).
  8. They develop an awareness of the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  9. They develop the ability to act in accordance with current laws and regulations and to assume ethical responsibility.
