The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is a discipline that examines the structural and functional characteristics of living organisms at the molecular level and applies the science of genetics. Education in this field plays a significant role in many areas, such as biotechnology, medicine, agriculture, energy and environmental sciences. Our Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics teaches students the fundamentals of genetics, molecular biology techniques, genetic engineering methods and genetic research methods.

Our curriculum covers topics such as genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, plant genetics and microbiology. Students also learn advanced techniques in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology and molecular genetics through laboratory work. Alongside their laboratory work, our students have the opportunity to collaborate with industry and academic institutions through internship programmes and research projects.

The discipline of molecular biology and genetics, which has numerous application areas such as health, agriculture, energy and food, has become one of the priority areas for development in our country in recent years. Numerous organisations—including genetic diagnostic laboratories, forensic medicine laboratories, food analysis laboratories, domestic pharmaceutical production facilities, domestic tissue culture laboratories, IVF centres, food production factories, patent offices and consultancy firms—are seeking graduates in molecular biology and genetics.
