Fourth-year students from the Department of Computer Engineering—Elif Nida Şölen, Havva Nur Akın, Melih Hopa, Melik Berke Gül, and Rüveyda Koçaker—presented the research project titled “Digitization of Agricultural Processes andDevelopment ofa Smart Agriculture Platform Using Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing Technologies,” have been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Student Research Projects Support Program.
This research project aims to create a smart agriculture platform by integrating artificial intelligence and image processing technologies—two rapidly evolving fields—with agriculture. Thanks to this platform, all agricultural processes will be digitized and will keep pace with advancing technology. Through the mobile/web applications to be developed, sustainable agricultural practices will be encouraged, supporting a production process that is more efficient both economically and environmentally. Along with the applications, values such as land data, soil health, fertilization, and water usage will be supported in real-time by meteorological data, thereby facilitating the decision-making processes of farmers and agricultural engineers through the digital platform. In this regard, the project aims not only to offer a technological innovation but also to provide a social benefit.
As Konya Food and Agriculture University, we congratulate our students who contributed to this important project and our advisor, Prof. Dr. Kasım Öztoprak, and wish them continued success.
