The research titled “The Relationship Between Digital Parenting Awareness of Mothers with Preschool-Aged Children and Their Children’s Problematic Technology Use and Difficulties” has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Student Research Projects Support Program.
Within the scope of this project, the complex effects of rapidly spreading digital technologies on family dynamics will be examined; the study aims to reveal the direct and indirect roles of parents’ levels of digital awareness on preschool-aged children’s problematic technology use and psychosocial difficulties (emotional, behavioral, hyperactivity, and peer relationship issues). This study will use innovative psychological and statistical models to analyze how parental attitudes (such as serving as a negative role model or digital neglect) impact children’s psychological and emotional needs. Upon successful completion of the project, the goals are to contribute original empirical data to the literature, develop family-based psycho-educational programs aimed at reducing the risks associated with uncontrolled screen exposure during early childhood, and provide sustainable strategic solutions for guidance services and policymakers.
We congratulate our students and their advisor on their success.
