The Moodle-based online-learning course management system, which has been installed at Konya Food and Agriculture University since 2017, was updated in March 2020, when the pandemic process started, and BigBlueButton, an open source live course system, was installed and integrated into the course management system. Both the course management system and the live lecture system serve entirely from our university servers and all data is stored within our university. In addition to the visual customizations of our university's corporate identity, customizations for capacity and usage are also carried out by our university's academic staff and IT staff. Since both Moodle and BigBlueButton are open source software, they also pave the way for new research by the Distance Education Application and Research Center of our university. In this context, the usage characteristics of our university have been analyzed and improvements have been made on the system for capacity, course registrations have been made to appear in a short time, and a capacity has been created to enable 1500 students to take part in the courses at the same time in our university with approximately 800 students. A mechanism has also been developed to enable all students to participate in a presentation or announcement at the same time.
Within our course management system, which serves at online-learning.gidatarim.edu.tr, faculty members can share course materials, create synchronous and asynchronous courses, organize quizzes and online exams, share and collect assignments, make announcements to students and create forums in courses organized in accordance with your faculty and institute hierarchy. They can also create interactive content in addition to lessons with H5P support. In addition to the main materials, the system also provides the possibility to share visual, audio and video auxiliary materials.
