About the Digital Agriculture Technologies Program

In today’s world, global climate change, population growth, the depletion of natural resources, and the need for greater efficiency in agricultural production have made the integration of digital technologies into the agricultural sector imperative. The Digital Agriculture Technologies Program at Konya Food and Agriculture University was established to lead this global transformation by training highly qualified experts who can effectively utilize digital technologies in agriculture, make data-driven decisions, and demonstrate innovation and strong practical skills.

Traditional agricultural methods are giving way to data-driven, sustainable, and technology-based approaches in a rapidly changing world. The Digital Agriculture Technologies Program is an innovative associate degree program that integrates plant and animal production processes with artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, drone technologies, and big data analytics. Our goal is to train “digital agriculture experts” who will lead the digital transformation of the agriculture and livestock sectors —individuals who understand both the land and living organisms and are capable of managing technology.

3+1 Education Model: An Education Integrated with the Industry

Our program is conducted through the 3+1 Education Model, which ensures that our students graduate as “experienced” professionals.

  • First 3 Semesters (Theoretical and Laboratory Training): Our students take courses on the fundamentals of plant and animal production, agricultural technologies, coding, and robotics—both in the classroom and in our modern practical training facilities—at our university.
  • Final Semester (On-the-Job Training): Our students spend their entire final semester (full-time) working at leading digital agriculture companies, smart greenhouses/farms, R&D centers, or technology-focused agricultural enterprises.

Thanks to the 3+1 model, our students establish strong ties with the professional world before they even graduate, add one semester of full-time work experience to their resumes, and have the opportunity to be hired by the organizations where they gained professional experience.

Graduates, equipped with interdisciplinary skills that bridge agriculture and information technology, have employment opportunities in the public sector, private sector, and entrepreneurship.

  • They can find employment at private-sector companies active in the fields of digital agricultural technologies, precision agriculture applications, smart irrigation systems, and agricultural data management,
  • They can find employment at technology firms that develop agricultural machinery, sensor technologies, IoT, artificial intelligence, unmanned agricultural vehicles, automation, and agricultural software,
  • They can work at businesses engaged in greenhouse farming, smart greenhouse systems, vertical farming, and controlled production,
  • They can take on roles in the fields of agricultural data analysis, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and agricultural decision support systems,
  • They can work in units related to agricultural production, rural development, and digital transformation within institutions and organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry,
  • They can take on roles in planning and implementing digital agriculture applications at municipalities, development agencies, cooperatives, and agricultural consulting organizations,
  • They can work as data analysts or systems specialists who analyze collected agricultural data and use insights derived from this data to help farmers produce more efficiently,
  • They can provide consulting services to farmers and producers in the agricultural sector on the use of artificial intelligence and digital agriculture technologies,
  • They can work at agricultural pesticide companies on the use of artificial intelligence in pest control and disease management,
  • They can work in R&D centers to develop digital agriculture solutions,
  • Graduates can start their own businesses and operate in the fields of smart agriculture solutions, agricultural consulting, drone services, and digital agriculture technologies,

In addition, students who graduate from the program have the opportunity to complete their education toward a four-year bachelor’s degree by transferring to suitable undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). This provides graduates with the opportunity to attain higher-level positions and advance in their careers.
