Special Education Awareness Event Held in Konya

Within the scope of the Guidance Cooperation Protocol in Special Education signed between the Ministry of National Education and the Turkey White Moon Association, the “Special Education Awareness Event” was held at Konya Food and Agriculture University.

Held on February 12, 2026, under the theme “We Are Together,” the event aimed to raise awareness in the field of special education, strengthen the culture of coexistence between individuals with and without disabilities, and promote an inclusive education approach. The program emphasized that differences are not a barrier but rather an opportunity for social richness, development, and solidarity.

Held at the Konya Food and Agriculture University Conference Hall, the event was planned for elementary school students in grades 2, 3, and 4, aged 8–10. Students, teachers, and volunteers came together around a common ground of awareness.

Provincial Director of National Education Murat Yiğit participated in the program as a speaker. The event included protocol speeches, plaque presentations, and a video presentation introducing the cooperation process. At the end of the program, various treats and gifts were presented to the students.

The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Erol Turan, Rector of Konya Food and Agriculture University; Dr. Kader Arkan Sezgin, Director of Education Policies at the General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services of the Ministry of National Education; Lokman Ayva, President of the Turkish Beyazay Association; Turan Kayacılar, District Director of National Education in Karatay; academics, school administrators, teachers, and students.

The event was considered an important step in raising social awareness in the field of special education and strengthening inclusive education practices.
