BEYŞEHİR - Farmer Meeting Held in Beyşehir in Collaboration with KGTÜ and Konya Şeker

The Farmer Meeting organized in Beyşehir district in collaboration with Konya Food and Agriculture University (KGTÜ) and Konya Şeker A.Ş. was held with the active participation of producers in the region. The program was organized with the aim of increasing agricultural production efficiency, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and informing farmers about current scientific and technological developments.

The event brought together academic knowledge and industry experience to share information with producers. Presentations were given to participants on the effects of climate change on agricultural production, the sustainable use of water resources, and modern agricultural techniques.

The program addressed the problems caused in agricultural production by changes in rainfall patterns due to climate change. The current status and future of Lake Beyşehir, Turkey's largest freshwater lake, was also discussed. The ecological and socioeconomic impacts of the decline in lake water levels due to rising temperatures, decreasing rainfall, and intensive water use were evaluated.

At the farmer meeting, one-on-one discussions were held with producers to address key issues encountered in the field and share proposed solutions. Officials emphasized the strategic importance of university-industry collaboration for agricultural development, stating that integrating scientific research results with field applications would contribute to producer welfare and national agricultural policies.

In addition, within the scope of research conducted in collaboration with Konya Food and Agriculture University, Konya Şeker A.Ş., and the Seed and Plant Health Clinic, information was shared with producers about plant diseases commonly seen in the region and methods of combating them. It was noted that such events facilitate farmers' direct access to current and reliable information.

The Beyşehir Farmers' Meeting is expected to contribute to the dissemination of conscious agricultural practices and support the sustainability of regional agricultural production. It was announced that Konya Food and Agriculture University and Konya Şeker A.Ş. will continue to meet with producers through similar events in the coming periods.
