Program Outcomes and Educational Objectives

Program Outcomes and Educational Objectives

Educational Objectives of the Computer Engineering Program

  • To provide advanced theoretical knowledge in the advanced areas of computer engineering, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, computer vision, software engineering, computer networks and cybersecurity, and scientific computing.
  • To enable students to integrate the knowledge they acquire with modern computational tools, software development methods and experimental analysis techniques, and to build scientific research competence.
  • To train competent researchers who can produce original, value-added technology in interdisciplinary R&D and innovation processes while upholding the principles of scientific ethics, data privacy and AI ethics.
  • To support graduates in taking active roles in academia, R&D centers and the IT industry by developing critical thinking, project management skills and an awareness of scientific productivity.

Program Outcomes of the Computer Engineering Program

  • Engineering Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, computing and engineering subjects related to the field of specialization, at a level sufficient for solving complex engineering problems; awareness of current and leading developments in the field of specialization; awareness of knowledge-based issues that may arise at the intersection of engineering and other scientific and professional fields.
  • Problem and System Analysis: Ability to identify, formulate and analyze complex engineering problems in new, current or emerging areas of the field of specialization that require the consideration of incompletely defined or conflicting requirements, taking the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals into account; ability to develop and analyze conceptual models for new and complex engineering products, processes or systems within a broad or multidisciplinary framework.
  • Engineering Design: Ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems that require the integration of knowledge from different fields and whose specifications are not fully defined or whose requirements conflict, as well as for new and complex products, processes or systems, by using up-to-date knowledge in the relevant engineering specialization and taking realistic constraints and conditions into account; ability to interpret the results critically.
  • Use of Techniques and Tools: In-depth knowledge of scientific research techniques and their limitations; ability to select and use appropriate methods and techniques, including prediction and modeling, as well as tools and information technologies for the investigation, analysis and solution of complex engineering problems, while being aware of their limitations.
  • Research and Investigation: Ability to make effective use of information sources such as data collection, literature review and databases; ability to perform simulations, conduct experimental studies in compliance with implementation and safety rules, critically interpret the resulting data and draw conclusions for the in-depth investigation of complex engineering problems; ability to examine and question the application of innovative trends and emerging technologies to the research area.
  • Global Impact of Engineering Practices: Knowledge of the non-technical impacts of engineering practices — societal, health and safety, environmental, economic and industrial — taking the UN Sustainable Development Goals into account.
  • Engineering Ethics: Ability to observe social and ethical responsibilities in the solutions produced, in the research conducted, and in the interpretation and dissemination of research results, in accordance with the principles of the engineering profession.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as a team member or leader (face-to-face, remote or hybrid) in teams that may be formed across different disciplines and educational levels in national and international settings.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Ability to convey interpretations and information on technical subjects clearly and comprehensibly through effective oral and written communication, taking into account differences in the target audience (such as education, language and profession).
  • Project Management: Ability to plan and manage complex projects or technical work that may require new strategic approaches.
  • Lifelong Learning: Ability to learn independently and continuously, and to closely follow scientific and technological developments in one's field.
