General Information

The Library of Konya Food and Agriculture University, which is designed as an international research and specialization university, is structured using the latest technologies of the day in accordance with the purpose, mission and vision of our university.

It aims to be a dynamic library at the national and regional level by producing quality information services within the framework of innovative, rational and academic ethical rules, using individual and institutional cooperation and communication channels effectively.

The Library will support the lifelong learning activities of its users by using different types of information resources (printed and electronic books, journals, online databases) to support the education, training, research and social activities of our university, with a forward-thinking, knowledge-producing, people-oriented perspective, taking into account the changing scientific, academic and intellectual needs of the user groups (students, administrative and academic staff and all stakeholders of the university), producing quality information services and providing the necessary environment.

The Library of our University, which is the first specialized university in our country's sector, aims to become a reference center for our country in this field in accordance with this feature.

Organization

The library was established to create a collection of information resources to be used in scientific studies, education and research, to make these information resources available to those in need and to meet their information needs, to participate dynamically in the realization of the objectives of the teaching staff of which it is an integral part, to follow the developments and researches in accordance with the needs of the age.

Form of Establishment

It is essential that library services at the University are organized and carried out within the Central Library.

Unit libraries may be established in other units outside the main residential area, provided that they are affiliated to the Central Library and their technical services are carried out by the Central Library.

Organization and Management

The coordination, management and services provided by the library are carried out by the following bodies

1. Library Commission
2. Department of Library Documentation
3. Library service units and sub-units.

Library Commission

It was established in order to develop the library collection in accordance with education and research activities, to enable users to benefit from the services and facilities in the most effective way, and to ensure and maintain communication between the Library and users.

Library Commission;

Under the chairmanship of the Vice Rector responsible for the Library, it consists of the Head of the Library and Documentation Department, one faculty member each from the Faculties, Vocational School, Preparatory School Directorate and one representative selected from the Student Council.

The Commission convenes once a year at the beginning of the academic semesters.

Library Commission;

1. Developing and updating the Library Collections (printed and electronic) and determining a policy on the materials that are purchased or donated,
2. Developing and publicizing library services to users,
3. Regulating the rules applied in the library (determining the usage periods of the materials, the number and duration of the borrowing rights of the users, the penal sanctions to be imposed on the prevention of rule violations, delay / loss penalties, etc.),
4. Identifying the needs of users and their requests and complaints about the library and conveying them to the library,
5. It makes recommendations on issues such as measuring user satisfaction, the library's compliance with modern standards, etc.

The decisions taken are submitted to the approval of the Rector's Office.

Department of Library and Documentation

Library services at the University are organized and carried out by the Directorate of Library and Documentation Department, Technical Services, Reader Services and Automation Services Department Responsible. Established libraries work under the general coordination of the Department of Library and Documentation and are responsible to the Department of Library and Documentation.

Duties of the Department ofLibraryand Documentation

The Head of the Library and Documentation Department performs the following duties.

1. To carry out studies to provide sufficient staff to ensure that library services can be carried out without interruption and to advise the university administration on this issue, to divide the work among the library staff at the University and to carry out general training and supervision duties on the staff,
2. To ensure that the Library Collection is formed, developed and preserved within the framework of the determined policies,
3. To follow the developments in the field of librarianship and to work for technological innovations to enter the library,
4. To ensure that all kinds of tools, equipment, computers, etc. used in the library are regularly renewed with the latest technology,
5. To ensure the standardization and supervision of technical and reader services,
6. Preparing monthly and annual Library activities reports covering routine periods about library services and sending them to the relevant units,
7. To do the necessary for university students and university students studying librarianship for internship and practice studies,
8. Carrying out the secretariat of the Library Commission and organizing commission meetings
9. In accordance with this Directive, the Head of the Library and Documentation Department is responsible to the head of the Unit to which he/she reports for all his/her services and to carry out other studies required by library services and to ensure that the library functioning complies with modern standards.
