The Library's collection development policy is determined in line with the educational, training, research and cultural needs of the university. According to the principles set for the development of the university collection, the library may purchase selected information resources, exchange publications with other universities and institutions, and accept individual or institutional donations.
1. The selected resources should be of a level and quality that support all fields of education and research at the University and should be appropriate in terms of disciplines/subjects.
2. In the selection process, care should be taken to ensure that the collection contains competent and/or up-to-date information, while maintaining a balance between the collection as a whole and the ratio of faculty/students in education and training.
3. The collection should be sufficiently diverse in terms of subject, language and genre to meet the information needs of users.
4. The collection should include literary and cultural works appropriate to the level of the users to ensure their cultural development and to make use of their extracurricular time.
5. Priority is given to the purchase of the resources recommended by the instructors for education and research in line with the integrity of the collection and the requirements.
6. The same principles are taken into consideration in the selection of purchased/leased and/or open access electronic resources.
The general principles mentioned in Part I also apply to information resources provided as exchange and donation. The following points should also be taken into consideration.
The Library has the right to decide whether donated information resources can be added to the collection and in which section they will be placed.
The Library is not responsible for publicizing the list of donated information resources. However, the list of donated information resources is kept.
Information resources that are not added to the collection may be returned to the donor or donated to other university libraries.
1. In line with the general principles, publications may be exchanged between other universities and/or institutions and our University and/or received as donations.
2. Publications of authors/ contributors and information resources (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, etc.) owned by individuals are accepted or rejected as donations to the Library in accordance with the above principles.
3. It is preferable to send a list of the resources to be exchanged/donated to the Library and Documentation Department and ask for a preliminary opinion. From this list, the resources to be received are selected and notified to the relevant individuals/institutions with the opinion of the expert librarian (if necessary, the opinion of an academician from the relevant academic unit can be obtained) and/or the approval of the Head of the Library and Documentation Department regarding the acceptance of those that comply with the "Collection Development Policy Principles".
4. On the inside cover of the donated resources, the name of the donating person/institution is stamped "donated by ...............".
5. Information resources that are suitable for the library collection are subjected to the procedures for other information resources and added to the collection. A letter of thanks is sent to the donor or the donor institution on behalf of our University
1. The following items are not accepted for exchange/donation because they are not appropriate for a university library's collection
a) Those banned by a judicial decision,
