The AgroByte Vision Team, composed of Computer Engineering students from Konya University of Food and Agriculture, successfully represented our university in the Agricultural Technologies Category at TEKNOFEST 2025, held in Istanbul from September 17–21, 2025. Our team attracted attention by offering technology-based solutions to the agriculture and livestock sectors with their "Smart Farm Model."
The AgroByte Vision Team consists of Computer Engineering students Muhammed Melih Çam, Emin Osman Atcı, Akın Mert Ak, and Mustafa Büyüktektek, with academic supervision provided by Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Bilecen. Drawing inspiration from both engineering principles and the needs of agriculture, our students have developed a field-adaptable, high-value-added project.
High Level of Interest and Presentation Opportunities
Our team received significant attention not only from jury members and visitors but also from key leaders of our country during TEKNOFEST 2025. We had the opportunity to present our project directly to Mr. İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, and Prof. Dr. Faruk Yiğit, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Roketsan. Our project was met with great interest and appreciation by both individuals, both for its technical infrastructure and its practical applicability in the field.
These meetings provided our team with both a morale boost and motivation to further develop the project. Additionally, the fact that our students’ visionary approach was endorsed by leading decision-makers in the industry was a source of great pride for us.
Smart Farm Model and Digital Livestock Farming
The smart farm model developed by our team offers a comprehensive digital management solution for modern livestock operations. The system consists of five core modules:
Herd Management, Herd Tracking, Security and Anomaly Detection, Inventory Tracking, and Automation
All these modules are managed through a mobile app that farmers can easily use. Thanks to the user-friendly interface and real-time data analysis systems, farmers can make data-driven decisions and improve the efficiency of their operations without having to leave the field.
Individual Animal Health Monitoring with Capsule Technology
One of the most notable innovations in the project is the specialized capsule technology developed by the team. Thanks to this technology, each animal is monitored individually, and its health data is analyzed by AI-powered systems. The system acts as if each cow had its own “personal veterinarian,” tracking mobility, feeding patterns, and other biological parameters. This enables the early detection of potential diseases and facilitates rapid intervention, with the goal of preventing annual herd losses of up to 10%.
Efficient and Waste-Free Management with Inventory Tracking
The inventory tracking module within the system ensures the regular monitoring of feed, medication, and other agricultural inputs. The module not only informs the farmer of real-time inventory levels but also enables planning through automatic reminders based on needs. This feature aims to prevent the waste rates of 25% to 45% commonly encountered on farms.
Advanced Security and Anomaly Detection with Early Warning System
One of the most critical components of the smart farm model, the security and anomaly detection module, ensures both the physical security of the farm area and provides an opportunity for early intervention in unexpected situations. Operating with a camera-based artificial intelligence system, this module monitors farm entrances and exits in real time and sends alerts to the farmer by detecting movements of unidentified individuals or vehicles.
Additionally, the system is sensitive to disasters or emergencies such as fire, smoke, excessive noise, and sudden movements. This enables the system to quickly inform the farmer in disaster scenarios like fires, allowing the necessary response chain (fire department, security, veterinarian, etc.) to be initiated earlier. Thus, the system ensures not only production efficiency but also the safety of lives and property through technological support.
Technology Made Accessible Through the “Minimum Sensors, Maximum Data” Approach
The system developed by the AgroByte Vision Team was designed under the motto “Minimum sensors, maximum data.” This approach has enabled the creation of a more economical and accessible model by offering camera- and software-based solutions instead of high-cost hardware on farms. Consequently, the system’s scalability has increased, making it possible for small and medium-sized farms to benefit from this technology as well.
Contributing to Turkey’s Agricultural Future from Our University
This visionary project presented by the AgroByte Vision Team is not merely a technical achievement; it is also regarded as a significant step toward digital transformation in agriculture. Our students and our advisor, who represented our university at a major and prestigious event like TEKNOFEST, have concretely demonstrated how innovation can be aligned with real-world needs in the field.
As Konya Food and Agriculture University, we take great pride in our students’ success. We sincerely congratulate the AgroByte Vision team and our esteemed advisor, Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Bilecen, and wish them continued success.
