Master’s Program in Biotechnology (Turkish/English):
Evaluation of Applications
Master’s Program in Biotechnology:
The scientific evaluation will be conducted in the form of a written exam. Applicants will be evaluated scientifically based on their general scientific knowledge and the academic framework of their undergraduate programs, in addition to their stated purpose for applying to the program. The total score will be calculated with a weighting of 50% for the ALES score, 25% for the undergraduate GPA, and 25% for the scientific evaluation exam, (For grade conversions between the 4-point and 100-point systems, the conversion tables established by YÖK will apply), and candidates will be placed in their applied programs starting with the highest-scoring candidate, within the available quota. In the event of a tie in the ranking, priority is given to the candidate with the higher undergraduate GPA.
Biotechnology Ph.D. Program Application Requirements
1) Candidates must have graduated from a university with a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Medical Sciences, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and related fields will be accepted.
2) For the Ph.D. Program, applicants must have scored at least 60 (Quantitative) on the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) administered centrally by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Applicants applying with a bachelor’s degree must have scored 80 or higher on the Quantitative section.
- The exam score is valid for 5 (five) years from the date of the exam.
3) English Language Proficiency (YDS): Candidates must have scored 65 or higher on the YDS or its equivalent (international foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by ÖSYM).
4) Have scored at least 70 on the Scientific Evaluation (Written) exam.
5) Statement of Purpose (A written explanation of the applicant’s reasons for applying to the program).
6) Letters of Recommendation (2 letters).
7) Students applying to the doctoral program with a bachelor’s or master’s degree must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00/4.00.
Application Evaluation
Biotechnology Ph.D. Program:
The scientific evaluation will be conducted in the form of a written exam. The total score will be calculated based on the following weightings: 50% ALES score, 25% master’s GPA, and 25% scientific evaluation exam score. (The conversion tables established by the Council of Higher Education [YÖK] will apply for grade conversions between the 4-point and 100-point systems.) Candidates will be placed in their applied-for programs within the established quota, starting with the candidate with the highest score. In the event of a tie in the ranking, priority is given to the candidate with the higher master’s degree GPA. For candidates applying directly to a doctoral program, their undergraduate GPA will be evaluated.
Final Registration Procedures and Required Documents
Master’s Program in Biotechnology:
1- Application Form
2- A photocopy of the bachelor’s degree diploma or graduation certificate (can be obtained with a current date via the e-Government system) – Candidates who completed their bachelor’s education abroad must provide a Diploma Equivalency Certificate from the Council of Higher Education (a photocopy is required).
3- A photocopy of the undergraduate transcript (can be obtained with a current date from the e-Government system)
4- A printout of the ALES score report from ÖSYM
5- Foreign Language Certificate - (Accepted language exams: YÖKDİL: 60, eYDS: 60, YDS: 60, TOEFL-IBT: 72) or a score of at least 65 or an equivalent level on the exam administered by the Department of Foreign Languages at Konya Food and Agriculture University
- If required by the relevant program.

Biotechnology Ph.D. Program:

3- A photocopy of the master’s degree transcript (can be obtained with a current date from the e-Government system)
4- ÖSYM printout of the ALES score report (ALES: Quantitative or EA score of 60 or higher; for applicants applying with a bachelor’s degree, Quantitative or EA score of 80 or higher) – The reference number on the document will be verified upon submission
Documents will be verified using the reference number on the document at the time of submission.
