The Konya Probation and Parole Directorate Organized a Seedling Planting Event as Part of Its Agricultural Therapy Project

The Konya Probation and Parole Directorate has launched the “Agricultural Therapy” project in collaboration with relevant institutions, with the aim of supporting individuals subject to probation and parole measures in acquiring vocational skills to facilitate their entry into the workforce, as well as rehabilitating them to reintegrate into society as healthy members. As part of the project, a 5,000^m² area allocated to the Konya Probation and Parole Directorate on the grounds of the Bahri Dağdaş International Agricultural Research Institute was prepared through necessary arrangements to make it suitable for vegetable cultivation.

The planting of vegetable and fruit seedlings provided by the Meram Agricultural Chamber took place on May 16, 2025; Konya Chief Public Prosecutor Halil İNAL, President of the Konya Regional Administrative Court Deniz KÖSE, Rector of Konya Food and Agriculture University Prof. Dr. Erol TURAN, Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of Konya Lütfü BOYALI, Konya Public Prosecutor Murat KÜÇÜK, Konya Regional Director of the Presidency of Communications Oğuz TUNÇ, Director of the Bahri Dağdaş International Agricultural Research Institute İlker TOPAL, General Secretary of the Meram Chamber of Agriculture Hüseyin YALTI, Director of Probation Mustafa GÜDAY, and our university’s Department of Plant Production and Technologies Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezgi AYTAÇ, Instructor Harun MERAL, R&D engineers Ali ALADAĞ and Ali TUNCER, and department students.

Our department provided training to the probationers on the planting and care of the seedlings. The training concluded after all the vegetable seedlings were planted together. Through the Agriculture Therapy Project, both the rehabilitation of probationers subject to supervised release measures will be supported and their acquisition of vocational skills will be facilitated.
