A project titled “Molecular Responses of Sugar Beet to Repeated Drought and Heat Stress” by Fikriye Ebrar SELÇUK, a student in our Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Student Research Projects Support Program.
The aim of the proposed research project is to investigate the molecular responses of sugar beet (B. vulgaris L.) under repeated drought and heat stress to explore stress memory mechanisms. Specifically, the project’s primary objective is to examine the roles of genes responsible for ABA (abscisic acid) and proline biosynthesis, as well as stress-related genes such as Hsp70, at the transcriptional level, and to investigate their contributions to the adaptation processes under repeated stress conditions.
This research will help elucidate the sugar beet’s stress adaptation mechanisms and stress memory, thereby contributing to agricultural improvement strategies.
We congratulate our student and their advisor and wish them continued success.
