The Department of Plant Production and Technologies is of critical importance in the cultivation of plant products and the production of raw materials for the food industry. Therefore, it forms the focal point of Konya Food and Agriculture University, Turkey's first specialized university in agriculture. Additionally, it is the only department at our university where the title of “Agricultural Engineer” is awarded.

Our department does not view plant production as a phenomenon solely dependent on plants or soil. Therefore, it encompasses all components of production systems and technologies. The Department of Plant Production and Technologies provides not only technical education but also education in related social fields. In this way, our students are primarily equipped with “problem identification” and “information management skills.” Furthermore, our students' “analysis and synthesis” capacities are increased, and their “problem-solving” skills are also developed.

The compulsory and elective courses offered to our students in the Department of Plant Production and Technologies cover areas such as cultivation and breeding in the fields of garden plants and field crops, plant protection, soil science and plant nutrition, as well as agricultural structures and irrigation. Our students also have the opportunity to pursue a minor or double major.

Thanks to the 100% English-language, application-focused education provided in our department, we train agricultural engineers who can learn about global issues and developments and apply them locally according to regional conditions, integrating knowledge with practice. The curriculum includes orientation courses where individuals with field experience, currently working at different technical and administrative levels in national and international agricultural and agro-industrial organizations, share their sector experience. In addition, our students have the opportunity to undertake practical training and internships at Anadolu Birlik Holding subsidiaries. Thus, our students enjoy the privilege of studying in a department where the international current curriculum is applied and university-industry cooperation is carried out, instead of the classical agricultural education provided in other Agricultural Faculties in our country.

In addition, agricultural engineers who graduate from the Department of Plant Production and Technologies are authorized in the following areas of activity:
