Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr.Mikdat Çakır Has Done A Presentation After the Invitation of the TBMM Medical and Aromatic Plants Research Commission

A parliament research commission which was formed to determine precautions against difficulties faced in preservation of the variety of medical and aromatic plants and production and marketing of such has invited Dr.Mikdat Çakır the chairman of the board of trustees of ours to have a presentation about the matter.

Dr.Mikdat Çakır, the chairman of the board of trustees, has attended TBMM Medical and Aromatic Plants Research Commission meeting on 16th of October, on Wednesday. In the presentation he has done he pointed out the potential relief the medical and aromatic plants can supply on the economy of the country in a large scale. Dr.Mikdat Çakır has underlined the fact that the people have been migrating from the rural marginal land whose soil is very suitable for medical and aromatic plants and wherein such plants have an easy time growing up. He has also stated that this is not merely an economic matter, this is an important opportunity to approach to the matter in a sosiological manner when the concept of migration is considered. He stated that to evaluate the socioeconomic potential of medical and aromatic plants the cooperation approach is an absolute must and at this very point Pankobirlik, Konya Şeker and Torku’s systems are the most successful examples of such.

He implied critically that one of the most important components of such system is Konya Food and Agriculture University. He stated that the university plays a key role in R&D and in the process of transmuting the produced information into innovative value added products. Chairman of the board of trustees has also talked about the continuing projects in our university about medical and aromatic plants. He shared informations about medical and aromatic plants, functional products in which the extracts of such plants are used, natural food supplement products and reasearches about raw materials for medicine.
