Konya Food and Agriculture University, "International University Transforming Knowledge into Products", Rises on 9000 Years of Tradition

Konya Food and Agriculture University (KGTÜ), which set out with the idea of "international university that transforms knowledge into products"and built its academic and technological infrastructure on this idea, is Turkey's first and only specialized university in the field of food and agriculture. KGTÜ has been selected as a "Specialized University" in the field of "Digital Technologies in Agriculture" by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2023.

KGTÜ was established with the efforts of our farmers who came together under the roof of Konya Beet Planters Cooperative and took the initiative in Turkey's progress and development, and aims to develop vital information and technologies that our country needs in the field of food and agriculture and to train qualified human resources to put them into practice.

Established as an international research university, KGTU provides its students with the opportunity to have serious experience and take part in R&D projects within the framework of university-industry cooperation.

Our source of inspiration is the Çatalhöyük civilization established 9000 thousand years ago in Konya Plain, the agricultural center of Anatolia. Çatalhöyük was included in the World Heritage list by Unesco because it is extremely different from other neolithic settlements with the size of the settlement, the population it houses, and the strong art and culture tradition it has created. Our university rises on the 9000-year tradition of Çatalhöyük, the world's first agricultural settlement with its innovation, productivity and development.

The source of our strength is Konya Seker and Anadolu Birlik Holding, the founders of our foundation and one of the largest organizations in Turkey. The source of our strength is the university-industry cooperation provided by Konya Seker's tens of thousands of decares of application area, farms spread over thousands of hectares, more than 40 enterprises in the fields of agriculture, food, animal husbandry, energy, sales and marketing, and Torku, which aims to be one of the five biggest food brands in the world. This cooperation will play a major role in transforming the knowledge produced into products in a short time by acting as a high-speed tunnel at the point of transforming knowledge into products and presenting it to the market.

Our research strategy focuses on transforming the knowledge produced at KGTU into tangible products and applications and thus utilizing the knowledge obtained as a result of research for the benefit of society as soon as possible.

Our education model is designed in a specialization-based and application-oriented manner. It is aimed for students to have a broad perspective according to their areas of specialization.
