SARGEM Renewed Its TÜRKAK Accreditation: A Trusted Center for Food, Water, and Soil Analysis

SARGEM

The Strategic Products Development Application and Research Center, established within Konya Food and Agriculture University, is a laboratory that was previously granted an operating license by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Initially, the laboratory produced reports approved by the Ministry. In the following period, it was accredited by TÜRKAK (the Turkish Accreditation Agency). While food and water analyses were being conducted, the laboratory was once again accredited by TÜRKAK in the final days of 2024 and began providing services in the fields of soil, fertilizer, and water analysis.

The Strategic Products Development Application and Research Center, abbreviated as SARGEM, has become an important laboratory that continuously improves itself. The once-closed and non-functional laboratory was made operational through the efforts of Ramazan Erkoyuncu, Chairman of the Board of the Sugar Factory, and Prof. Dr. Erol Turan, Rector of Konya Food and Agriculture University.

The laboratory provides accredited services in the fields of food, water, fertilizer, and soil safety to all parts of the country upon request, for a reasonable fee. Food analyses of TORKU, which were previously conducted outside the province, are now safely carried out here.

The laboratory, operating within Konya Food and Agriculture University, provides services based on confidentiality and customer trust.

SERVICES PROVIDED AT SARGEM

Food Chemical Analyses: Determination of food contents in detail, including additives, chemical analyses, food allergens, and additive testing.

Food Physical Analyses: Tests conducted to measure the physical properties of food products. These analyses are important for quality control, safety, and compliance. Tests such as viscosity, moisture, and density are generally performed in the laboratory.

Food Microbiological Analyses: Detection of microorganisms in food products. Various microbiological tests are conducted, including total bacterial count, mold, and yeast tests.

Food Nutritional Value Analysis: Determination of nutritional values of food products, including calorie, protein, fat, dietary fiber, and carbohydrate analyses.

Shelf-Life Tests: Verification of food labeling, accuracy of production and expiration dates, and consistency between label information and product content.

Microbiological and Chemical Tests in Water: Microbiological and chemical analysis of water sources and water samples used.

Food Sampling and Statistical Tests: Support in regular sampling during production processes and implementation of statistical tests for quality control procedures.

Soil Health Services: All kinds of soil analyses conducted with modern technology and competent experts in the field of soil science. Analysis of soil pH, nutrient content (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium), organic matter ratio, microelements, acidic properties, and physical characteristics.

Evaluation of Fertilizer Effectiveness: Chemical and organic fertilizer analyses, fertilizer efficiency tests, heavy metal and contaminant testing, and mineral and micronutrient analyses to support soil health and help farmers achieve better yields.

SARGEM is a valuable laboratory made available to the public in recent years by Konya Sugar and Konya Food and Agriculture University (KGTÜ).
