New departments have been added to Konya’s University of Food and Agriculture

Konya University of Food and Agriculture is expanding its educational capacity by introducing two new undergraduate programmes in Food Quality Control and Analysis and Digital Agricultural Technologies, in addition to the master’s degree programmes it offers in Clinical Psychology, Agricultural Management and Cooperatives, Biotechnology, Computer Engineering and Business Administration.

SUPPORTING A SPECIALISED EDUCATION MODEL

Comprising 1 Vocational School, 3 faculties, 1 institute and 7 application and research centres, Konya Food and Agriculture University is adopting a department-based education model from the 2023–2024 academic year onwards, embracing an educational philosophy that supports students in specialising in their respective fields. At the university: in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Computer Engineering (100 per cent in English) and Interior Architecture (in Turkish); in the Faculty of Social and Humanities Sciences, Psychology (in Turkish), International Trade and Business Administration (100 per cent in English) and Management Information Systems (100 per cent in English); In the Faculty of Agricultural and Natural Sciences, programmes in Crop Production and Technologies (100% in English) and Molecular Biology and Genetics (100% in English) are available, whilst the newly established Department of Plant and Animal Production / Department of Digital Agricultural Technologies and Food Processing (in Turkish) / Food Quality Control and Analysis Programmes (in Turkish).

THE RANGE OF COURSES IS EXPANDING

Konya Food and Agriculture University, which operates in line with Turkey’s objective of specialisation in the food and agriculture sector, is expanding its range of courses with new programmes across various disciplines. In addition to the programmes it currently offers in Clinical Psychology (Thesis-based/Non-thesis-based in Turkish), Agricultural Management and Cooperatives (Thesis-based/Non-thesis-based in Turkish), Biotechnology (Thesis-based in Turkish and English), Computer Engineering (Thesis-based in English) and Business Administration (Thesis-based/Non-thesis-based in Turkish – Thesis-based in English) and Computer Engineering (in English), as well as PhD programmes in Biotechnology (in English) and Business Administration (in Turkish). In addition, two new associate degree programmes are being launched: the Food Quality Control and Analysis Programme and the Digital Agriculture Technologies Programme. The Food Quality Control and Analysis Programme and the Digital Agricultural Technologies associate degree programmes also aim to train the human resources required in the fields of food safety, quality control, smart agricultural technologies and digital production processes.
Established with the contributions of farmers who are members of the Konya Sugar Beet Growers’ Cooperative, Konya Food and Agriculture University continues its educational activities within a strong collaborative framework with agricultural industry organisations under Konya Sugar Inc. and Anadolu Birlik Holding. By expanding its academic capacity through new postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, the University continues to support scientific research and train qualified personnel in the areas required by the food and agriculture sectors.
