2026-2027 Academic Year Supplementary Placement English Placement and Proficiency Exam

The purpose of the English Preparatory Class, operated under the Department of Foreign Languages, is to ensure that students reach the B2 level in English so they can successfully follow courses in their respective departments. The English Preparatory Class will provide instruction to students who have been admitted to our University’s English-language undergraduate programs but whose English proficiency is insufficient. Accordingly, students with an average score below 65 on the English Placement and Proficiency Exam will be placed in the Department of Foreign Languages’ Preparatory Class, while those with a score of 65 or higher will continue their undergraduate studies. At the undergraduate level, in another institution of higher education where the language of instruction is English Konya University of Food and Agriculture “English Placement and Proficiency Exam” or achieve a score of at least 84 on the TOEFL (IBT) exam and provide documentation of this score. The TOEFL IBT Home Edition will not be accepted.
For students admitted to our university through the supplementary placement process, the 2026–2027 Academic-Teaching Year Supplementary Placement English Placement and Proficiency Exam will be held on October 12, 2026, at the Department of Foreign Languages at Konya Food and Agriculture University. Students who failed the preparatory class or summer school during the 2025–2026 academic year are eligible to take the Supplementary Placement English Proficiency and Placement Exam. In addition, students who enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year but did not take the English Placement and Proficiency Exam held on September 7–8, 2026, or who took it but failed, will also be eligible to take this exam. Students currently enrolled in the preparatory class for the 2026–2027 academic year who failed the preparatory class or summer school in the 2025–2026 academic year must submit a handwritten, signed petition stating their intention to take the exam in person (to our University’s Document Registration Office) or send a scanned copy of their petition to the email address info@gidatarim.edu.tr by 5:00 PM on October 9, 2026.
SUPPLEMENTARY PLACEMENT ENGLISH LEVEL ASSESSMENT AND PROficiency EXAM SESSIONS

An Additional Placement English Level Placement and Proficiency Exam will be administered to assess the English proficiency of students newly enrolled at our university through the additional placement process. The Additional Placement English Level Placement and Proficiency Exam consists of two sessions. 1.SESSION (Department of Foreign Languages) | Listening Exam – 15 points Students will be presented with 3 different audio recordings and will be asked to answer the questions. |
Written Exam – 65 points Section 1 (50 points): In this section, students will be asked 50 questions covering reading, vocabulary, and grammar. Section 2 (15 points):In this section, students will be asked to write an essay of at least 250 words on a given topic. | |
2.SESSION (Department of Foreign Languages) | Speaking Exam—20 Points In the speaking exam, students are first expected to provide general information about themselves. Students will then be asked questions on various topics. |
NOTE:Students who achieve a total score of at least 65 on theEnglishPlacement and Proficiency Exam will be considered successful. Students who do not take the English Placement and Proficiency Exam are deemed to have accepted placement at the most basic language level.Our Department of Foreign Languages recommends that students take this exam to ensure they are placed in the correct class and at the appropriate level. | |
