Selçuklu GM Agrotech Reaches the Finals of the Farm Robotics Competition 2026

The Selçuklu GM Agrotech team, composed of students from Konya University of Food and Agriculture, successfully represented our university on the international stage by qualifying as a finalist in the prestigious Farm Robotics Competition 2026 organized by the University of California.
The team’s autonomous ground vehicle, TUNÇ, detects diseases in wheat plants in real time under field conditions; it minimizes the use of agricultural pesticides by treating detected diseases with UVC light and biological methods.
The project is not merely an agricultural robot. TUNÇ forms a comprehensive agricultural digital ecosystem alongside an autonomous charging station, an integrated drone system, and the AgriTron mobile app, which provides farmers with real-time data and enables remote management. Thanks to this ecosystem, field management achieves a data-driven, sustainable, and seamless structure.
The experimental studies within the scope of the project are being conducted in collaboration with the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The team, which secured fifth place at last year’s TEKNOFEST held in Northern Cyprus, continues to demonstrate strong performance on the international stage this year as well.
The project is academically advised by Prof. Dr. Kasım Öztoprak. The team, led by Captain Yusuf Ziya Yavuz, includes Murat Çelik, Ali Küçükazman, Hamiyet Görgülü, Sümeyra Varol, Furkan Yavuz, and İsmail Tuncer.
We congratulate Selçuklu GM Agrotech, which is building the future of agriculture today, on this achievement and extend our best wishes for the international competition.
