Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
Purpose of the Position: To coordinate, on behalf of the Rector, the university’s institutional processes related to quality assurance, education and teaching, research and development, career development, university-industry collaboration, internationalization, and student-centered initiatives; to monitor the activities of councils, commissions, coordinating offices, and centers within the scope of this role, and to ensure coordination among the relevant units.
This division of duties does not alter the University’s existing administrative hierarchy, and the provisions of relevant legislation remain in effect. The Vice Rector’s relationship with the administrative units within their area of responsibility is one of coordination and high-level oversight, within the framework of relevant legislation and the organizational structure.
- Quality Assurance and Institutional Development
- To coordinate the activities of the Quality Coordination Office and the Quality Commission.
- To coordinate institutional accreditation, program accreditation, and quality assurance processes under the scope of YÖKAK.
- To monitor the implementation of the internal quality assurance system, as well as monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities.
- To coordinate processes related to the monitoring and evaluation of institutional performance and quality indicators.
- Education and Instruction
- To ensure the coordination of education and teaching policies and processes.
- Monitor the Bologna Process, ECTS, and program and curriculum development processes, and ensure coordination among relevant units.
- Coordinate efforts aimed at developing assessment and evaluation processes.
- Coordinate the work of committees and commissions active in the field of education and teaching.
- To monitor efforts related to the oversight and development of the university’s academic processes.
- To contribute to the coordination of undergraduate and graduate education and teaching processes.
- Contribute to the coordination of distance education and continuing education activities.
- Research, Development, and Projects
- To contribute to the coordination of the university’s research and development activities.
- Ensure high-level coordination of Scientific Research Projects (BAP) and externally funded project processes.
- To monitor processes aimed at tracking and improving research performance.
- Support coordination among research infrastructure, research units, and relevant academic and administrative units.
- Career Development
- To coordinate the activities of the Career Center.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of activities aimed at the career development of students and alumni.
- Provide high-level coordination for career events.
- University-Industry Collaboration
- Coordinate efforts aimed at developing university-industry partnerships.
- Provide high-level coordination for internship and workplace training programs.
- Internationalization and Academic Partnerships
- Coordinate processes aimed at developing international academic collaborations.
- Monitor the implementation of Erasmus+ and other academic mobility activities.
- Support the development of academic collaboration processes with national and international institutions and organizations.
- Contribute to the coordination of dual-degree, joint program, and international student processes.
- Student-Centered Approach and Institutional Coordination
- Coordinate efforts to develop student feedback and participation mechanisms.
- Monitor efforts related to student representation and student participation in decision-making processes.
- Support the coordination of academic, professional, and institutional development activities for students.
- Boards, Commissions, Coordinators’ Offices, and Centers
- Ensure coordination among the activities of councils, commissions, offices, centers, and working groups within its scope of responsibility.
- To coordinate the preparation and follow-up of matters related to its area of responsibility to be submitted to the University Senate and the University Executive Board.
- Serve on boards, commissions, and working groups as appointed by the Rector.
- Other Duties
- To act as the Rector’s representative when the Rector is absent and has designated a deputy.
- To carry out other duties assigned by the Rector.
